Built for daily use

Everything a screenshot needs, in one place.

Tools that other extensions split across half a dozen products, unified in a single fast, private interface.

  • Region capture, instantly

Hit Alt+Shift+S anywhere, drag a rectangle, and the cropped pixels land in the editor. No tab-juggling, no clipboard dance, no temp files.

  • Smart resize, no pixelation

Hand-tuned presets for every social network and a multi-step downscaler that keeps detail sharp where one-shot canvas resizers fall apart.

  • Beautiful backdrops

Drop your screenshot on curated photo wallpapers, eight hand-picked gradients, or any solid color. Tune inset, corner radius, shadow.

  • Format conversion + compression

PNG, JPEG, WebP — toggle the format, drag the quality slider, watch the file size estimate update live before you save.

  • Batch in, ZIP out

Drop a folder of images. Apply the same settings to all of them. Get back one neatly named ZIP. No queue, no server, no waiting.

  • 100% on-device

Every pixel is processed in your browser on your machine. Nothing is uploaded, no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry. Ever.

FAQ

Questions? Answers.

Is Screenit really free?
Yes, completely. No accounts, no trials, no ads, no paywalls. Everything described on this page works the moment you install the extension.
Where do my images go?
Nowhere. Every operation — capture, crop, resize, backdrop, format conversion — runs in your browser on your device. Screenit has no server.
What image formats does it support?
Input: PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, GIF (and anything Chrome can decode as an image). Output: PNG, JPEG, or WebP with a quality slider and live file-size estimate.
Can I batch resize a whole folder?
Yes. Drop multiple files into the editor, apply your settings once, and download every result as a single ZIP with sensible filenames.
Why does it ask for access to all websites?
So the "Open in Screenit" right-click menu can fetch the original image bytes from CORS- or hotlink-protected hosts (Instagram, Pinterest, etc.). All requests are initiated by Screenit's own tab — nothing runs on the pages you browse.
Does the region capture work on chrome:// pages?
Chrome blocks extensions from injecting scripts onto chrome://, the Web Store, and a handful of internal pages. Everywhere else, it works.
Does it work on Edge, Brave, or Arc?
Yes — any modern Chromium browser that supports Manifest V3. Firefox support is on the roadmap.
How do I uninstall it?
Right-click the Screenit icon in the toolbar and choose "Remove from Chrome". No leftovers, no traces.
